and the Block Fest Building Challenge is demonstrating that connection.

Local builders, architects, engineers, and technology professionals compete in this unique event to see which group can build the highest, widest, and most stable block tower.

Each team is given 1,000 KEVA planks and 30 minutes to design and build a tower upon a 6” square base. Width, height and the strategic placement of an Washington Apple are factored to determine final scores.

This event provides a great opportunity for area businesses and professionals to support young families by participating in an event that connects block play to math and science learning. Both the participating teams and spectators will see that while the adults’ creations are more sophisticated, both adults and young children use the same basic concepts to keep their towers tall, and that all are subject to the same basic concepts when their towers crash!
